Freaknik: The Musical
I finally got a chance to see the cartoon that had all of Twitter talking. I must say, the show was actually humorous to me. Of course some of the humor was a bit edgy but with most of the stuff that comes on TV nowadays, it fits the medium. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, I believe its showing again soon. Picking beats for a mixtape.
It’s always tough when picking beats for a mixtape. You always want to remain relevant for the fans sake but you try to find things your flow is comfortable on. I’m sitting here going thru my iTunes and listening to instrumentals. I swear I have a huge selection but its only for options. I probably won’t use a high percentage of the instrumentals I’ve received or downloaded. It’s a harsh reality but true. Your favorite rapper won’t tell you that but I will. So if I don’t use it, don’t take it personal. It may not fit the mood of the project or my personal style. Doesn’t mean the beat is garbage. It’s just not for me.

A date with insomnia.
A nap at 7pm is not smart.
I’m learning that now as I lay awake at 1am.
The even crazier part is I have to be up at 8am.

In order to accomplish your dream…
…you must sacrifice some things in life. I’m learning that daily. As I prepare for SXSW, I’ve had to sacrifice spending over the past couple weeks in order to make sure I had the funding for my trip. It hasn’t been hard but it has motivated me to work on more music than normal. I’m not out in the nightlife as much and I’m doing a little less dining out (y’all know that’s something I love to do). All in all, the sacrifices have been well worth it.
